Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. When she was a kid she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. At the age of six, Emma knew she would like to be an actor and for a number of years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned singing dancing and acting. When she was ten, she had appeared and played as the main character in several Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film version to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama instructor. After eight auditions consistently, producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast as the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film broke records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Critics gave high praise to the film and particularly the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performances "amazing". Emma was awarded five nominations for her impressive performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of the Film.
